Now the streets are full of students eager to get as far away as possible from their torture educational institutions. Welcome to two months of unparalleled joy, or at least the next two months of your life.
As a treat, (or maybe the District did actually have a reason for it, I’ll never know) school ended early today. At lunchtime, actually. So, we’re free to go. Of course, they only say that as a gesture. In reality, you’ll see kids volunteering, working, or doing other stuff to save up pennies for college. I’m personally volunteering at my local church and at the library for a summer reading log thing.
There’s always the good that accompanies the misfortune that befalls us all. Think, you probably don’t have to wake up at 6 in the morning to get to school anymore. No more late homework assignments (unless you’re in summer school. If you are, I pity and sympathize with you), no more tests (same conditions as above), and the grades you get don’t matter! If you’re thinking ahead, good for you, and I hope that you do try to learn something. You’ve still got at least 30 years ahead of you, and it’ll be great if you knew what the he** term “anserine” means when you enter your workplace.
It’s not really the carefree summer that we all wish for. It’s just a break from stuffing your brains until they’re over-capacity.
Get ready for next year. Unless you’re already ready, like the good students that you are.
